Community Guidelines
[bracketed] placeholder needs a real answer, and the whole page needs review for your actual jurisdiction, entity, and school agreements before this product opens to anyone (ARCHITECTURE.md §21 R4).Last updated: [date].
You're about to talk to a real person at another verified school. Treat it that way. This page explains what we don't allow, how to report it when it happens, and roughly what happens after you do.
Not allowed, ever
- Sexual content or nudity. On camera, described in chat, or solicited from the other person.
- Anyone under 18. This service is for adults. If we find or are told about an underage user, the account is removed and we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities as legally required.
- Threats or violence. Directed at the other person, yourself, or anyone else.
- Harassment, bullying, or hate speech. Directed at the other person or a group they belong to.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be someone else, including a public figure.
- Spam or advertising. Using calls to promote something rather than have a conversation.
- Recording without consent. We can't technically stop a screen recording, but doing it, and especially sharing one, is a guidelines violation on top of whatever else it involves.
Reporting
Report from the call itself, or from your recent conversations for up to 7 days after. Reporting takes a few seconds: pick what happened, add detail if you want, and optionally block the person and end the call in the same action. You don't need to know who they are — we work that out from the match, not from anything you tell us about them.
Reporting is not the same as blocking. Blocking is just for you: the person you block will never be matched with you again, and they are never told you did it. Reporting also comes to us for review, and can lead to action against their account.
What happens after you report
A human reviews reports. Some categories — anyone reporting an underage user, or a threat of violence — go to the front of the queue for review no matter what else is happening.
Separately, if enough distinct people report the same account in a short window, that account can be automatically restricted (matched less readily) or suspended before anyone has reviewed it by hand — we'd rather act fast on a real pattern and review the specifics after than wait while more people have a bad experience with the same account. Reporting the same person yourself multiple times doesn't count more than once toward this — it takes distinct people, which is also why report abuse (coordinating to report someone falsely) doesn't work as an attack and is itself a violation.
Depending on severity, an account can be warned, restricted, suspended, or permanently banned.
What we can't do
We can't see or hear a call in progress, and we don't record calls — the report you file, and the chat transcript from that specific conversation, are what we have to go on. Say something specific in your report; “they were rude” is much harder to act on than what actually happened.
